The US President's re-election website has been taken offline after the reported cyber-attack. The hackers posted a message on the Trump campaign website, saying ''multiple devices were compromised that gave full access to Trump and relatives'''. They also threatened to release potentially damaging personal information on the President and his family in efforts to scam people for cryptocurrency. Donal Trump's campaign has not yet commented on the breach. The hack took place at around 4pm PST and changed the entire about page into a reported cryptocurrency scam.
On the top of the page read ''this site was seized'', followed by a paragraph next threatening the release of sensitive information. It said: The world has had enough of the fake-news spreader daily by President Donald J Trump it is time to allow the world to know the truth.
The test goes on to claim ''most internal and secret conversations strictly classified information is exposed, and suggests a conspiracy theory about Mr. Trump and the coronavirus Pandemic.
Tim Murtaugh, Director of Communications for Mr. Trump's 2020 campaign, issued a statement on Twitter that confirmed no data was stored on this site.
He said: Earlier this evening, the Trump campaign website was defaced and we are working with law enforcement authorities to investigate the source of the attack. There was no exposure to sensitive data because none of it is actually stored on the site. The website has been restored.
